My little brother (we’ll say Rafael, age 10) seems to think he’s the main character, and a Mary Sue at that. He will NOT stop demanding attention. Most of it is harmless, like begging my other siblings and I to play all the time. When we’re busy and say “no,” he’ll hang his head and sulk, saying “awwww” in a baby voice and leave the room. Or he’ll stand in the middle of the room and yell “ANYBODY??!!!” When we’re watching a movie, as we did tonight, Rafa talked the WHOLE way through it. Then at the end song, he got up and started dancing in front of the screen with toys. He starts singing AT me and asks the same nonsense question no less than ten times, then sulks when I ask him to stop. All harmless, but he won’t listen no matter how many times we ask him to stop. He doesn’t seem to care as long as he’s the center of attention.
Some parts are not so harmless. Today he told a big fish tale to our parents about how the family dog had bitten him. It was a blatant lie. I was there, and he was wrestling with her and playing. He put his hand in her mouth and grabbed her jaw, and even then she did NOT bite him. But when I corrected him, he started adding more and more, all lies, to convince them. I said that he was lying (I don’t want the dog put down for your silly story, sorry not sorry) and he started crying and ran away screaming, slamming doors on his way. My parents knew that I was telling the truth (we expect this sort of drama), but it still took half an hour to get him to even come out.
I’m getting very tired of the drama and very, very irritated. I may be PMSing, but this behavior from a ten year old is getting on my last nerve. I don’t want to get angry with him, but I’m losing it fast, especially after the dog incident. If my someone believed his story about the dog, she would be put down, even though she’d never hurt a thing. I need advice, please.
Thanks for listening to my rant 🙂
