Today I had a yellow envelope in my mailbox with the word “formal delivery” written on it.
That generally doesn’t mean anything good.
After I opened it, I remembered. A month ago, I was driving too fast and I got caught in a speed trap.
Instead of 50 km/h (30 mi/h), I was caught doing 73 km/h (45.4 mi/h).
So that it really hurts me (or that I learn something from it). I have to pay 153€ (159 $) and get a point
on my traffic offenders’ register.
For two years now I have had the stigma of being a traffic offender.

That sucks. Sure, it’s not good to drive like you’re being followed by the devil himself, but yikes, the cops sure don’t fuck around.

Sorry to hear this… but I think it happens to alot of us drivers. I’ve definitely had to pay a speeding ticket…or two… 😛

Traffic cameras at heavy traffic intersections here totally SUCK. The reasoning they use for these cameras is saving lives and reducing speeding. But the real reason is they make MONEY for the city. Also you are presumed GUILTY when you get the citation in the mail. The appeal process is long and complicated. So, people who get the citation just pay it.

I’m sorry you got a citation in the mail. Can you appeal the citation in a German court?

Falcons_11D You can do that, but it rarely brings success. It might be worth it if a driving ban has been imposed.

I am fortunate as to not get any tickets on my permit. I will be going in for the test in Janruary for my license , then I need to get a car.
