I’ve got a 2017 Passat with about 110,000 kilometers on it, and I’ve noticed the AC isn’t as cold as it used to be. It’s not blowing warm air, just not freezing like it did when the car was newer. On a really hot afternoon, it struggles to keep the cabin comfortable. I checked the cabin air filter and it’s clean. I’m trying to figure out if I just need a refrigerant recharge or if there might be a leak or a failing compressor. I took it to a general garage in Dubai and they quoted me 400 dirhams for a re-gas but said they can’t guarantee it will fix the issue. I’d rather pay a bit more for a proper diagnostic from someone who knows VW AC systems. I found https://caracrepairsharjah.ae/brands/volkswagen/ and it looks like they specialize in European cars. Has anyone here used a specialist in Sharjah for VW AC work? I’m trying to decide if I should just try the re-gas first since it’s cheap, or go straight to a diagnostic. I don’t want to waste money on a recharge if there’s a leak that will just let the refrigerant escape again. Also, is it normal for a 7 year old VW to need a recharge or does that indicate a problem? Any advice from Passat or Golf owners who’ve dealt with AC issues would be super helpful. Thanks in advance.
