Ok so I’m 17m and I really like this girl I’m friends with. I’ve like her for almost a year and 2 months. I asked her to prom in march and she said yes, but that her parents said we could only go as friends. Well her parents are strict so I figured this was just a boundary until they knew me better. Well a mutual friend texted me after I asked my crush to prom and asked if I liked her. Obviously I said yes. Seeing as the mutual friend is best friends with my crush, I’m assuming that she told my crush that I like her, which I’m ok with. Well fast forward and the mutual friend is doing everything to try and “wingman” for me. Even my crush‘s twin (fraternal) sister was trying to get us together. Every single thing I’ve seen has led me to believe that my crush likes me back. Well I finally worked up to courage to ask my crush to see a movie together, but because of something that happened at our youth group‘s camp, I wanted to make confirm I wasn’t fighting a losing battle so I texted the mutual friend and asked exactly that. I said “I need you to shoot straight with me. Am I fighting a losing battle here with (crush‘s name)?“ she responded with “yes” “I think” “sorry man”. And now I just don’t know what to do. I really, truly believed she liked me back. I’ve spent so long liking this girl. I truly thought we would be together one day. I even began to imagine what a future together would look like. And now that’s all been ripped out from under me. She’s just so perfect for me. She’s exactly what I’m looking for and I just don’t know what to do now. I want to make it very clear that me and my crush are friends, which is why I asked the other friend because I didn’t want to ruin me and my crush’s friendship. Does anyone have some advice? If you need any further detail, I’m happy to provide it. Thanks
