Additionally, the word “gland” comes from the same root (in this case, the diminutive glandula “little acorns”, in reference to the tonsils). More than one piece of anatomy was seen as acorn-like!
To answer the question, mine is also long and always covers by default. Part of why being cut is difficult for me to imagine; to me, the glans is supposed to be covered/hidden. I wouldn’t want it always exposed. 😳
