Where I live (Switzerland) we opened a debate in class. What motivates a person to vote for Trump in the USA. The idea is not to criticize but to have a constructive discussion. If anyone is interested, we can open a discussion here.

Through our media in Europe, we get the impression that his strategy is to criticize and release enormity that activates the emotions of voters who no longer seek to be critical of the content.

He’s a criminal, a rapist, a woeful businessman and serial cheater who can’t stop lying He’s got no policies and just doesn’t want to go to jail so is happy to be the project 2025 peoples puppet He’s dangerous People only want to vote for him because he allows them to be their worst selves - you can be ignorant, racist, rude… if the national leader can why can’t you? And they vote for him out of fear about his lies about immigrants and because they think because he’s rich he can save economies despite his business models often relying on milking things, taking the money and filing bankruptcy (That’s what I learned in school, we did the same topic lol - but it checks out)

I think it’s a pretty good analysis. A little rough but good. I think we can unanimously say that it is dangerous for democracy.

He is openly sexist, and uses social media and tv to throw accusations without any proof. Most of them are completely silly but people believe them. Trump alone is not a danger. The half of the americans who worship him are.

Because using social media and people’s internet history it’s easy to find out what people care about, and target advertisements to those topics Trump doesn’t need to be good, he just needs to make his opponent sound worse. Basics of politics now it seems

Taking advantage of an hurting population desperate for change, someone who goes against the establishment living in a two party system. Add the history of racism of the US and that it is an highly religious country it’s not hard to see how he was able to scam a large enough portion of the electorate.

Some people seem to have such loyalty to their party that they will vote for anyone. There was a joke in the UK that certain people would vote for a chimpanzee if it wore the right coloured rosette. But I have also seen posts on-line from people who have said that Trump is so unsuitable as a president that they have reconsidered their allegiance. But I also think Trump has been tapping into people’s prejudices and saying whatever they want to hear in the hope of being elected, unconstrained by either evidence or what he has said on a previous occasion.

Exactly Trump has no policies… probably not even “concepts of” policies He’s just trying to stay out of jail and will lying and evangelize to his poorly educated sheep

Fascinating points, but I’ll say this. The candidates on both sides are terrible and that fact is undeniable. The population of the United States is approximately 345 million people. The two running are the best they have? One is a diabolical human being and the other couldn’t find her way out of a cardboard box and was installed without process they have in place in that country. Think about that for a moment … it is gross. All empires throughout history have fallen. I suspect it is the United States turn and either one of these clowns fits the bill to help the process along.

Since I am too young vote, I tend to stay out of politics , our country is not longer a great nation and will leave it at that

They did get selected as candidates, so either the better alternative didn’t want the chance, or the alternatives are worse

And it’s not really 350 million (or even 350) who have the chance. I don’t know enough about how someone can be president, but I guess it’s similar to ours, so would need lots of money (to do advertising, to pay for being a candidate, to afford to live will spending time campaigning) and need a lot of people to support your ‘party’ or just you if being independent was ever possible. So the reality is your not voting for one person, your voting for everyone who funded them, or gave them support, who are probably after their own agenda for doing that

Colin97 That is the case for most countries, you’d think that atleast one decent candidates could be produced from 1.4 billion people but, we only have a 74 year old man who abandoned his wife and cut off ties with his family as he stepped up in power as our leader! (India as a nation is very joint and blood, marital relations are treated with the highest regard!) And such a fragile opposition! Even more shocking is the fact that you are not required any specific education requirements and any other requirement of some sort, (other than the age requirement of 25) to contest for the election! Democracy is just a mask to show who has the most money and influence, morals be damned. It is but a necessary evil solely functioning for the people’s reassurance and the country’s functioning be it slow, dreadful and horrid.

What I have seen though is anti-semetic protestors carrying Palestine and Hamas flags calling for the destruction of Israel and Jewish students.
